Easy Pastry Recipes Using Your Favorite Tea

These irresistibly luscious tea pastry recipes will surely give you that extra during your tea time. Bring out the baker in you during this lockdown period and try these sophisticated yet delicious recipes you’ll surely enjoy while having your favorite tea. 

1.       Earl Grey Tea Cookies

You can prepare this unique cookie treat for about 25-40 minutes. Earl grey has been known to improve digestion and is also good at relieving stress. Enjoy this treat with your family!

(Approx. 3 dozen)

Here’s What You Need:

-          1 teabag of Twining’s Earl Grey

-          1/3 cup of boiling water

-          ¼ cup of softened butter

-          ½ cup sugar

-          1 large egg

-          2 cups of all-purpose flour

-          1 tsp of ground cinnamon, divided into 2

-          ¼ tsp of ground cardamom

How to Do It:

1.       Put tea bag in a glass. Pour boiling water and steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and let it cool.

2.       Preheat the oven to 400°. Mix softened butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add in the egg and cooled tea. In another bowl, whisk flour, 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, cardamom, and salt; gradually beat until mixture is creamed.

3.       Get a dough using a tablespoon and shape it into balls. Place it 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten the dough using the bottom part of a glass.

4.       Bake the dough for about 6-8 minutes or until it turns light brown.

5.       Mix the confectioner’s sugar and remaining cinnamon. Dust cookies with the cinnamon mixture.

2.       Chai Tea Sandwich Cookies

Make your breakfast extra special with this Chai Tea Sandwich Cookies filled with chai-infused ganache. Chai Tea is good for reducing blood sugar levels and may help boost heart health. 

(Approx. 3 ½ dozen)

Here’s What You Need:

Ganache

-          8 ounces of white baking chocolate, finely chopped

-          1/3 cup of heavy whipping cream

-          2 chai-flavored tea (Twining’s Green Tea Chai)

Cookies

-          2 cups all-purpose flour

-          ½ cup sugar

-          ½ tsp ground cinnamon

-          ½ tsp ground cardamom

-          1/8 tsp salt

-          1/8 tsp pepper

-          1 cup cold butter, cut into 16 pcs

-          2 tsp vanilla extract

How to Do It:

1.       For the ganache, place chocolate in a small bowl. In a small saucepan, boil the cream then remove from the heat, add tea bags and steep for 10 minutes then remove it. 

2.       Reheat the cream mixture just to a boil. Pour the chocolate; let it stand for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally until ganache thickens to a spreading consistency, for about 1 hour.

3.       In another large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, salt, and pepper. Add in butter and vanilla until crumbly. Knead the dough and divide it into two disks. Wrap each in a plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.

4.       Preheat oven to 350°. Flour the surface and gently roll the dough to 1/8-inch thickness, lift and rotate the dough as needed. Cut with a 1 ½-inch round cookie cutter. Place cut cookies 1-inch apart on the ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until light brown.

5.       Spread 1 teaspoon of ganache on the bottom half of the cookies then cover with the remaining cookies. Let stand until set.

6.       Enjoy your Chai Tea Cookie Sandwich!

3.       Sweet Tea Cake

This sweet and soft type of pastry mixed with Twining’s English Breakfast Black Tea is perfect for your family’s snacks. Follow these steps to make your own Sweet Tea Cake!

(Approx. 12 servings)

Here’s What You Need:

-          1 pack of yellow cake mix (regular size)

-          1 pack (3.4 ounces) of instant vanilla pudding mix

-          1 cup of brewed Twining’s English Breakfast Black Tea

-          4 large eggs

-          ¾ cup canola oil

-          1 tsp vanilla extract

-          1 cup chopped toasted pecans

-          2 cups of confectioners’ sugar

-          1/3 cup of melted unsalted butter

How to Do It:

1.       Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and put some flour in a 10-inch fluted tube pan. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, pudding mix, ¾ cup of brewed tea, eggs, oil, vanilla and lemon extract; beat on low speed for 30 seconds, then beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in pecans. Transfer the mixture to the pan. Bake for 45-50 minutes.

2.       Cool in a pan for 10 minutes before removing it to the oven. In a small bowl, mix confectioners’ sugar, butter and the remaining tea until you reach your desired consistency. Pour the glaze over top of the cake.
