Tips on How to be Productive During Work from Home
Tips to Stay Productive During Work-from-Home (WFH).
1. Get up and find your rhythm, motivation & focus.
Start your day by meditating, fixing your focus and finding your motivation. Have your quiet time first thing in the morning to find your rhythm for the whole day. This will help you set your mood for the whole day.
2. Get ready, get dressed
Eat a healthy breakfast. Take a shower and get dressed comfortably for the whole day.
3. Plan your day
Write down and schedule your tasks for the whole day and define your objectives. You might want to try using the Pomodoro Technique
– it consists of 6 steps (francescocirillo.com):
Choose a task you’d like to get done. Something big, something small, something you’ve been putting off for a million years: it doesn’t matter. What matters is that it’s something that deserves your full, undivided attention. Set the Pomodoro for 25 minutes. Make a small oath to yourself: I will spend 25 minutes on this task and I will not interrupt myself. You can do it! After all, it’s just 25 minutes.
Work on the task until the Pomodoro rings. Immerse yourself in the task for the next 25 minutes. If you suddenly realize you have something else you need to do, write the task down on a sheet of paper. When the Pomodoro rings, put a checkmark on a paper. Congratulations! You’ve spent an entire, interruption-less Pomodoro on a task. Take a short break. Breathe, meditate, go for a short walk or do something else relaxing (i.e., not work-related). Your brain will thank you later.
Every 4 Pomodoro, take a longer break. Once you’ve completed four Pomodoros, you can take a longer break. 20 minutes is good. Or 30. Your brain will use this time to assimilate new information and rest before the next round of Pomodoros.
4. Have a distraction-free workspace
Having a clear desk and a distraction-free workspace could help you be more productive for the whole day. Set an area specifically for work so that once you sit on your chair, your mind knows that it’s time for work. Not to mention, investing in a comfortable chair to maintain a good posture while working also helps you stay productive for work.
5. Have a jug/tumbler of water on your desk
Most of the time, we are too focused on our tasks that we tend to forget to take fluids, especially water, which is necessary for our minds to stay fresh and alert. Practice this habit to keep your body hydrated. It also saves you from constantly going back to the kitchen to refill your glass.
6. Have coffee breaks!
Grab a cup of your favorite coffee while enjoying your break. This will boost your focus to finish your tasks productively. You can try and explore different coffee mixes you want. (eg. Dalgona Coffee, Cold brew, Coffee & Tea Fusion recipe and others). You can check these different coffee mixes from Tea and Coffee Depot.
7. Review your accomplishments for the whole day and;
Cross-out all your accomplished tasks for the day. Review and list down the things you need to improve for the succeeding days of work-from-home arrangement.
8. Relax and recharge your batteries.
After a long day, you deserve to relax and recharge your energy. Watch a movie or World Cup with your family, cook for them, set a group video chat with your friends through different apps such as Zoom, walk your pet, declutter your room, or express your creativity. Enjoy your time being with them and don’t let the current circumstances (such as this pandemic) beat your happiness or your productivity down. Focus your perspective on the opportunities amidst of this uncontrollable situation.
Be productive. Stay hydrated. Stay clean and safe.
